How to get here

By plane

The easiest airport to fly to in the summer is Geneva, about a 2.5hr transfer away. We include Geneva airport transfers in our holiday prices.

We run our own weekly transfers from Geneva airport. We're pretty flexible with transfer times, generally leaving the airport or the chalet whenever it suits the earliest/latest flight in the group but it's always possible that you will have to wait for other riders arriving on a later flight. This could potentially be a long wait if you book that cheap 7am flight! For return flights, we allow 3 hours for the transfer in case of any problems on the roads. Adding in the 2 hours for check-in means leaving the chalet 5 hours before the flight departure time, so you'll be pretty unpopular if you book a 10am departure!

In general, we aim to leave the airport no later than 1700 local time every Saturday with our return transfer leaving the chalet at around 0800, arriving at Geneva airport shortly before 1100. For this reason, please aim to book flights with arrival and departure times to/from Geneva betwen around 1200 and 1600.

As always, if you have awkward journey times, get in touch with us and we'll do our best to help you out.

If you want to guarantee an immediate departure as soon as your flight arrivals for the smoothest possible arrival at the chalet, we may be able to arrange a private transfer for a small additional cost.

By car

To drive takes around 10hrs from Calais and it's a pretty easy cruise on the motorway most of the way down. Our suggested route is to take the motorway all the way to Bourg en Bresse, then travel via Annecy to Albertville. Motorway tolls will cost somewhere around 50€ each way.

You can also stay on the motorway all the way to Lyon then go via Chambery to Albertville. This is significantly longer, but is on faster roads so time difference isn't much, however you will pay an extra 20€ in motorway tolls each way.

There's a small discount for those who self-drive and don't need any airport transfer.

By Train

The alternative way of getting here is by train. If you live in or near London or the south-east, this can be a great way to get to the Tarentaise valley. You can take the Eurostar to Paris, then change to a high-speed TGV down to Bourg Saint Maurice (sometimes changing in Lyon or Chambery). We'll pick you up in Bourg.

Driving Directions

To get here from the Channel, follow the motorways as follows:

A26 from Calais to Troyes (briefly referred to as the A4 around Reims)

A5 from Troyes to Dijon

A39 from Dijon to Bourg en Bresse.

A40 from Bourg en Bresse towards Geneva (Genève) - alternatively, carry on via Lyon and Chambery direct to Albertville (takes roughly the same amount of time, can be quicker depending on traffic along Lake Annecy, but costs more in motorway tolls).

Leave the A40 at junction 11, taking the N508 to Annecy.

From Annecy, follow signs to Albertville and the N508 (if in doubt, follow the inevitable "Toutes Directions" signs!), travelling along the edge of the beautiful Lake Annecy. This can be very busy in peak season and the longer route on the motorway may be the quicker option. Once in Albertville, follow signs for Moutiers. There is a dual-carriageway between Albertville and Moutiers.

From Moutiers, follow signs for Bourg St Maurice. The dual-carriageway splits, you need to be in the left hand lane for Bourg (the right hand lane will take you to the Three Valleys).

Immediately on arriving in Bourg Saint Maurice, take the right turn signed for the Hotel Autantic (if you get to the first roundabout, you've gone too far!). Follow this road bearing right (don't turn into the hotel). Keep going all the way down almost to the river. Take the right turn onto Rue des Colombières just before you reach the Kayak club and the bridge (towards ZAC Colombières). Follow this road along through a small commercial/industrial estate. Take the first left onto Allée des Rives (not the right turn onto another street with the same name. Follow this lane around the corner and the chalet is on the left.

It's important to try to give us an idea of your arrival time because we do take a break on Saturday afternoons after the chalet is clean and before the new guests arrive, so if you don't let us know, there might not be anyone around!
