Meals in the Chalet

Chalet food is firmly in the hands of Matt, our in-house kitchen-ninja. Matt is a highly-trained chef who has over 10 years experience working in some of the best restaurants in the world (most recently River Cottage and The Fat Duck).  Matt (and Crona) worked a few seasons for us in the past, in between more prestigious restaurant gigs, before taking the decision to move to the Tarentaise permanently in 2017. Matt and Crona have now taken over the winter chalet holiday side of The White Room, leaving us free to focus on running bike holidays in the summer (and going snowboarding all winter). We're lucky enough to have them stay on board for the summer season to look after the hospitality side of the business. Matt's food will blow you away! We keep things a little simpler in the summer - you need to re-fuel after a big day on the big, not fuss around with haute-cuisine, but Matt can turn even simple dishes into an art-form. It's the little touches too, like the home-baked bread for packed-lunches or the hand-made ravioli. For more photos, recipes and general foodie inspiration, check out Matt's Instagram page.

All our holiday prices include meals on a half-board basis. That gets you hot breakfast every day, three-course dinner 6 nights per week (we take Wednesdays off) and all the cakes, tea, coffee, wine and beer you can handle (that's right, free beer!). We also run a small bar with a selection of more interesting beers, etc.

We also provide packed lunches - we supply stocks of bread, ham, cheese etc for you to make your own sandwiches in the morning plus we provide cereal bars, fruit, chocolate, etc.. We keep lunch flexible as some days we're out in the wilds and a packed-lunch is essential, other days there's plenty of cafés and restaurants that we can stop off at, if you prefer.

We can cater for most special dietary requirements if we're given enough warning so please let us know your needs as early as possible. We've catered for many, many different diets in the past, from vegetarians to severe allergies so we're happy to handle almost anything.

For our night off, the local hotel (within walking distance of the chalet) has 2 great restaurants - high-end food upstairs and great pizzas, salads and burgers downstairs in the bar.

Crona & Matt looked after us so well - food was to die for. Best chalet food we have ever eaten. Incredible at catering for my special diet so I didn’t miss out on anything.

Superb guiding and fantastic food every night. Great chalet and hot tub, free beer and wine. What more could you ask for?
